In a small inland town lived a low-middle-class man called Genuíno, better known as Genu. Still single, he lived with his parents in the house where he grew up. He worked as a salaried employee in a large market in the city. He had not attended higher education and therefore could not get jobs that paid him well. Consequently he had a very modest life. One of his most striking features was his pessimism about life. He lived complaining about his financial condition and humble life. He compared himself to rich and famous people and lamented being poor. He complained about having to get up early to work; he complained of not having expensive clothes; complained of not having an imported car; he complained of having to keep getting orders from his bosses. In the city, people referred to him, from his back, as Genu the complainer, a title he had discovered fast but had not called. The only thing he had nothing to complain about was his health that was great.
One day, he was at a bar drinking with his friends and complaining about various things. There was a man drinking alone on the counter near them listening to all of Genu's complaints. He was a stranger in town. Maybe he was just passing through. After some time listening to everything, he got up and went to Genu. Looking at him in the eye, he said in a prophetic tone:
--- You're a young man, and I see you're in good health. You should not complain so much about life. That brings bad omen. You may regret it!
Genu stared at him with disgust but decided to remain silent. The man paid the bill and left the bar shortly. Genu did not think much of it. He thought he was talking drunk. He continued drinking with his friends and complained about everything in his life.
That same night, when Genu was coming home with the high moon, he saw a lady walking slowly down the sidewalk. She was half bent because of her hunchback. She wore a brown cloak with a large hood over his head so that only a small part of his face could be seen. Genu approached her and asked her.
--- What are you doing on the street so late at night?
--- I'm selling some utensils...--- She said huskily and weakly.
She had a very old, ugly face with large warts and well wrinkled skin. Her thin, bony hands trembled from Parkinson's.
--- Better go home. It's too late. There is no one on the street to buy your utensils.
--- Do you want to buy something? I have useful things for all kinds of people. She threw open the robe and showed some trinkets hanging from the inside. There were spoons of wood, plastic and metal; there were sacks hanging in his arms; also several small assorted color bottles; there were combs, hairpins, knitting needles, and bibs.
--- What's in those little bottles? --- Genu pointed to a peculiarly shaped smoke bottle.
--- Ah! There's a goblin in there.
--- Urchin? And what's this for?
--- You grow the goblin, give him life, and in return he gives you whatever you ask for.
Genu was confused. He thought it would be great to have everything he wanted but at the same time he did not believe in such an absurd story.
--- It's all right! I'm leaving. You be careful at this time alone in the city.
--- You did not like the goblin? --- She asked when Genu was already leaving.
--- Ah! Yes, interesting. But I have no money to buy.
--- I'll give you a gift. --- She opened her cloak and took the smoked bottle. --- Take it. It's yours!
--- I cannot accept. You're working.
--- It's just a gift. You cared for me alone at this hour. I want to reciprocate. --- She stretched out her arm with the bottle in her hand. --- Give me the joy in accepting it!
Genu thought it over, analyzed it and decided to take the bottle.
--- How do you use this? --- He asked.
--- You cannot let anyone see that you have this bottle. It should always be stored as dark as possible. Every Saturday at midnight you should uncover the bottle and drip two like the blood from your left little finger. On the eighth Saturday and in all the others afterwards you will be able to make the request that you wish that you will be attended to. But keep dripping the drops of blood like before.
--- Wow! Will I have anything I ask for? --- Genu confirmed now, already excited. He set the bottle in the dustpan and went out. --- Thank you Madam!
--- Remember the exit clause: you can give the bottle to someone else but you will lose everything you have won.
Genu did not pay much attention to the old woman's last words. He was very excited about the idea of being able to change his life.
Arriving home, he opened the bottle to examine its contents. He put the bottle under the lamp and looked inside. He saw an irregular, dark gray pellet stretched like a snail's egg, but quite small. He thought the darkest place he had was at the bottom of his clothes chest, beneath them.
When it was Saturday, he did as the old lady had said about dripping two drops of blood from his left little finger on the egg. Then came the other Saturdays and he did everything right. Until the eighth Saturday came, he can make his first request. He went into the bedroom and locked the door; took the bottle in the bottom of the chest and asked with confidence:
--- I want to have many luxury clothes! --- He thought about starting small things to see if it worked.
After the request was made, he went to the wardrobe to check if something had changed but found that his clothes were the same ragged and humble. He was very frustrated. He put the bottle back in the trunk and thought he had been too naive to believe that a crazy old lady was telling the truth when she told this story of the craving urchin. He decided to follow his life without thinking about that bottle.
On Monday morning someone rang the bell. Genu's mother came and went. She was a well-dressed woman in a suit, with a very austere expression.
--- Good Morning! --- Genu's mother said.
--- Is Mr. Juarez here? --- She asked.
--- Who would like? --- Genu asked, already near the door.
--- I am Mr. Elisio's lawyer. --- Can I enter?
--- Please! --- Genu's mother said. Then she said to her son: --- You'll call your father. Fast!
Genu's father had worked for almost twenty years in Mr. Elisio's tailoring. He retired a little time ago. Juarez approached and greeted the lawyer.
--- Mr. Juarez, I come to inform you that Mr. Elisio was in a car accident last Saturday in the capital. He was taken to the hospital but died a few hours later. Before he died, he passed the entire tailoring for you as an inheritance. I need you to sign here to take over the company. --- Said the lawyer delivering a sheet of paper to Juarez.
Genu went with his father to the tailor's shop and took the most beautiful clothes he could ever buy. Wearing the first outfit, Genu took a deep breath as if he had just finished a very tiring day at work. He felt a little weak for a few seconds then he returned to normal. He understood that it took a little time for desires to come true.
From that day on Genu decided not to go to work anymore. He started dressing like a tycoon and made jealous of his co-workers. His willingness to make more requests increased and he could barely wait until the next Saturday.
Finally the next Saturday arrived. He was counting the minutes because he had already chosen his request.
--- I want to live in a beautiful house and big as a mansion. --- He asked, holding the bottle tightly and glimpsing a luxurious mansion.
Two days later his mother's mother died, Mrs. Otília, the mayor's mother. Mrs. Iva, Genu's mother, was Mrs. Otília's companion. The old woman lived alone with Belinda, her youngest ten-year-old daughter in a beautiful palace in the center of the city. It was the most sumptuous house in the area. The girl had acquired great affection for Mrs. Iva. When the old woman passed away, the girl got sick and delirious repeating the name of Mrs. Iva all the time. It was then that the mayor decided to call her to keep the girl company in the hope that she would be well. It was only one day in the company of Mrs. Iva and the girl was well. As Mrs. Iva could no longer be absent from Belinda, she was allowed to call her family to live with her in the mansion. So Genu can live in the house of his dreams.
When he moved, he kept thinking that in fact he wanted a luxurious home for himself, not simply living in one. That's when he decided to complain to the goblin in that regard. He entered the room and took the bottle; then he said aloud, "I wanted a house for myself, not to live in someone else's house!" Without knowing how, he heard a voice speaking in his mind: "You asked to 'live in a beautiful house, big as a mansion.' He did not say that you wanted to 'have' a beautiful big house like a mansion. "It was then that Genu began to understand that he was dealing with something very clever.
As he entered the palace and felt all the glamour, Genu gave a deep sigh and felt a rapid wave of weakness that passed soon. He liked the house dazzled and happy. Even though it was not his, the ostentation of living in a mansion made him very happy.
Over the next few days, he thought about what he lacked and decided to make a new request. As soon as he set the schedule on Saturday night, he rushed to do the ritual. He took the pin, bit his little finger, and dripped two drops of blood on the bizarre little creature; then covered the bottle, put it between the two hands holding it firmly and said:
--- I want to have a business of my own and make lots of money. I want to be a successful marketer.
Two days later, a friend of his came to his house and invited him out. He led him to a bar far from the city where there were card tables wagered. Values started from below but were increasing. Genu sat down at a table where there was an old acquaintance of his: Mr. Dante. He was the owner of the big market where he worked. The crown was gambling addicted and went every night in that place. It was said that he had grown rich and had set up the market with money won on card games.
The night passed and Genu was very lucky. He won them all. When they had almost all left, only Mr. Dante remained on the table with Genu. The poor little man had no more than a penny while Genu had a mountain of money.
--- I offer my company! Ready! The market is bet.
--- But how can this be if there is no document? --- Genu asked.
--- I sign! --- Dante took out a blank sheet of paper and wrote that he transferred his company to Genu and then signed it. --- Ready! If I lose, there you go. If I win, I'll rip.
The game was a hit for Genu and he won the market.
The next day, Genu went to the notary to transfer everything to his name. When he took the document from the market already in his name, he gave that sigh again and felt the ripple... This time he was a little dizzy but it passed.
When he got home, his mother noticed something strange about him. She approached and began to analyze.
--- Genu! How depressed you are! Looks like he has not slept in days! Have you been fed?
--- There is nothing wrong with me, nothing! I'm great! --- He said, already climbing the stairs.
Arriving at his room, he went to look in the mirror and he was scared: he was really older. It looked like more than ten years had passed for him. He did not feel tired or weak because he had a very good physical health but his appearance pointed to a much older man.
Genu took over the company very pleased. The week passed, he was working in the direction of the market, and living with his family in the most chic palace in the city. When he arrived Saturday, he decided to make another request. He went to the room on time and did the ritual.
--- I want to have an expensive car, imported! --- He put the bottle in the cupboard, and went to sleep.
For the next two days, the market was packed with customers like never before. By the end of that week, Genu had enough money to buy his dreamed-up imported car. When he got into the car with the keys in his hand, he felt the wave of weakness but this time it was different: he felt dizzy and weaker than the other times. Minutes later, the unease was over.
On the same night, he called two friends to take a tour of the city in his new toy. He wanted to share with his best friends the automotive pleasures of such a beautiful machine. Genu got behind the wheel, one of his friends stayed in the passenger seat and the other behind. Stopping at a roundabout waiting for the green light, a truck tried to enter the roundabout and slammed into a pine tree that was a few feet from Genu's car. The tree toppled and had part of its branches broken in the mains wires when it was falling. Two of these branches were chipped like stakes. One of them went straight into the chest of the front passenger of Genu's car and the other into the left eye of the boy in the backseat, the two died on the spot.
It did not take away the strong will that Genu felt of asking more things to the goblin. He was really taken by the power to carry out his futilities. The next Saturday, he asked for a large statue of his to put in the door of his market. A few days later the statue was being placed in the door of the market. Genu, this time, got very weak. He entered his room at the market's board and rested on the couch. When the secretary entered, she was amazed at his appearance:
--- Mr. Genu?! How old you are! Your face is wrinkled!
Genu ran a hand over her face but did not identify anything too much. Then he got up and went to look in the mirror. He panicked when he saw that he was thirty years older. His hair was gray and had more dark circles than a panda!
After his parents insisted, he decided to go to the doctor. He knew he was not going to find out unless he was getting old too fast. No sooner said than done. Nothing else was verified. Genu knew he was having his vitality drained as she ran into the bottle. He began to search in memory what the old woman had said about leaving, clause, giving the bottle... Something that when she took the bottle did not consider it important but what she needed now, It was then that he waited for the next blood ritual and decided to make a different request:
--- I want to find the old lady who gave me this bottle!
The next day, Belinda was visited by her sister Iara. She brought him candy. Genu stared at her and could not take her eyes off her. The girl was the most beautiful ever seen in his eyes. Belinda introduced them and they sat down. He had the strange feeling of having seen her before. Her voice was merely known in his ears. It was then that he sighed deeply and then felt weak as he had before. "But she's too young," he thought. How could she be the old? "
--- Where do you live? --- He asked pulling on the subject. He did not want to get to the point since it was a very sensitive subject. Maybe she did not like to talk about the time she was selling utensils on the street.
--- Imperial Garden, replied the girl politely.
It was a very elegant neighborhood where only rich people lived. It would not have been such a ragged old woman to live in that place.
--- If I may say a compliment, you are very pretty. You must have several suitors. Does this heart already have an owner?
--- Well, I've had a love in my heart for a while. --- She lowered her head sadly.
--- Not reciprocated?
--- He loves another girl.
--- I am sorry.
Genu kept thinking... What would not a woman in love do to be reciprocated? He decided to ask:
--- Would you be able to make a great effort to love him?
--- I would do anything to marry him! --- She said, looking up at the horizon.
Genu decided she did not remember anything. "Someone must have given you the bottle and she used it to get the love of the man she loved." He thought.
After the girl was gone he decided to check in with the goblin. He took the bottle and asked:
--- Why did not that girl want the bottle and give up the love of her life?
Total silence.
--- Answer! --- He ordered it firmly. Still, he got no answer.
It was then that he decided to change tactics: he waited on Saturday to get him to make the request.
After dripping the drops of his blood he said:
--- I want to know the whole story of that girl!
The goblin replied in Genu's mind:
--- "She asked to marry the man she loved. Although young he had no attraction for her and little sought it. It was then that she started asking me to look for him more, to want him for more nights. With so many requests so many nights, she became so old and ugly that he became very dissatisfied with the marriage and arranged lovers. She suspected it was confirmed because everyone was commenting. She was getting sadder every day until she decided to end it all. She looked for someone to give the bottle and she found you. "
Genu thought about the goblin's words. She did not want it to happen to him. He wanted to finish everything so he would not become old before the hour, but he wanted to keep what he had earned.
One day he was lying on the garden bench near the tent. He always did this because he liked to listen to the noise of the water fountains as he looked at the flowers. It was a very hot and sunny day. Belinda was with visitors: it was a cousin who had been with her three-year-old son to bring her naked peanut she adored. Belinda was playing with the boy. They threw a very bright little colored ball to one side and the other. At the foot of the wall of the big house, there were small grilles intended for ventilation in the basement. One of them was partially destroyed. Suddenly, the toy ball rolled over and passed the large defective one going directly into the basement. Genu, who watched the boys play, decided to go look for the ball. He sought the entrance and found it after a long search under the bed of the deceased Mrs. Otília. There were several shelves with the most varied objects: tools, old paintings, clothes, books, things, shoes, kitchen utensils and various types of glasses and bottles. Among the books was a pink cape hooded with thick velvet and with symbols nailed to the front. They were little hearts, balloons, strawberries... A type of embellishment that women really like, he picked them up to look. When he opened it, his jaw dropped: it was a diary, Mrs. Otília's diary to be more precise.
--- Uncle Genu! --- Belinda shouted from the garden.
--- Yes! I'm with her. --- Genu answered, picking up the ball that was lying on the ground, not far from the broken grating. He put the ball through the hole of the grid for Belinda to catch. --- Get it here! --- He shouted. Then he returned to the diary.
He began to leaf through it quickly. There were figures drawn on some pages: flowers, balloons, berries etc., but one called her more attention: the design of a bottle. It was just like the goblin bottle he had. He began to read. He realized that Mrs. Otília had had a goblin and had asked for many things for him. On the following pages all the requests she had made were described: a large and luxurious house; the position of mayor for her son; approval of the youngest child to study at the best university in the world; etc. Genu's mouth dropped open. But what really astonished him was the last request she had made: "I want to have a beautiful and healthy daughter generated by myself!"
--- Belinda! She was the legitimate daughter of that old woman! She died when she was over seventy! --- He exclaimed aloud.
Genu went to ask her mother who had worked in the house for many years. She had said that Mrs. Otília spent nine months of pregnancy indoors without receiving visitors. When someone had to enter the house she would lock herself in the room so that no one would see her as a bully. When the girl was already a few months old, she tried to spread the word that she had adopted the girl from a deceased couple.
The Mrs. Otília's requests stopped a year before she passed away.. A few more pages ahead, Genu found a passage that had hinted: "... he did not want to tell me everything. It was selfish keeping the secret just for him. I hope he ends up in ruin just to learn not to be so stingy anymore. Damn Dante! "
--- Mr. Dante too? Wow!!! --- Genu said talking to himself. --- He must know something very important about the goblin, or Mrs. Otília would not have mentioned it in her diary. Perhaps how to master it, or get rid of it without losing what has already been achieved. Ah! But I'm going to take it from him. Oh, I will!
The market was in a large two-story townhouse. Mr. Dante lived upstairs but had to move as soon as Genu took possession of the market because the whole house was part of the company. Dante was out of work and unable to support his wife and three children. Genu left the search for Mr. Dante. He discovered that he moved with his family to his in-laws. They had nowhere to stay so they went to shore up the old men. They were all living so tight there.
When Genu knocked on the door, Dante's younger son came to open. He was a very clever and talkative boy for being eight years old. Genu knew him because he was always in the market running between the gondolas and playing hide and seek with his colleagues. Genu always talked to him and ended up developing certain affection for the boy.
--- Hi! Enter here! --- Invited the boy.
--- Is your dad there? I need to talk to him. --- Genu asked.
--- I'll call. The boy shouted! Dad! Genu wants to talk to you! --- Then to Genu. --- Come in, he's coming.
Dante appeared in the doorway with English water. Genu did not even need to hear anything to know that her presence was not welcome there.
--- Mr. Dante. Don’t bother. I just want to ask you a few questions.
--- We have nothing to talk about.
--- It's about the goblin.
The man made a face of Tsunami.
--- How do you know that?
--- Can I come in and talk?
--- Let's go to the backyard that no one can hear about this subject.
They passed the side of the house down a narrow corridor and went to the back of the house. There was a large hose over to the left side of the grounds. Once under the hose, Dante looked right at Genu and commented,
--- Wow! You are so different, you look older.
Genu paid no attention. He knew that the explanation for this would come in revealing about the covenant with the goblin. He decided to go directly to the point:
--- What was the secret you did not want to tell Mrs. Otília?
Dante's eyes widened in amazement.
--- How do you know that too?
--- I found her diary. I'm living in the house that was hers. It was by chance. She told you all about your conversation. It was very clear that you know something very important and useful about the goblin. Can you tell me?
Dante remembered that he was in the shit because of that boy. With a discreet and ironic smile he said,
--- And why would I do that? Why should I help the man who took everything away from me?
--- Mr. Dante, it's not like this! It was a game. It could have been any other. You lost and I won. I've lost so much in my life too. When I was your servant I earned a misery.
--- You earned a salary like everyone else.
--- What does it cost you to tell me? Look, I'm rich now. I can help you. You can ask for something in return for telling me.
Dante put a hand on his forehead and rubbed it slowly. Then he walked to the hose and put his hand on the trunk; then looked at Genu and said:
--- Why are you so interested in information about the goblin?
--- Because I have one. I want to know how to deal with it, control it.
Minute of silence, Dante was analyzing the situation. I wanted to see an advantage in that. He wanted to find a way to benefit from the opportunity. It was then that he proposed:
--- I lost my little goblin. His bottle was broken and he ran away. I'll tell you everything I've found out about the goblins if you bring my goblin back.
--- But how am I going to do that? --- He shouted, shrugging his shoulders. --- He's loose. I have no idea where he might be or how to get it.
--- Ask your goblin to bring him back. As a common request he will not succeed because he has no power over another goblin, but there are commands that give this opening. The other goblins cannot help but obey them. I tell you what command you should use.
Genu looked from one side to the other, thinking...
--- It's all right! I accept! --- He concluded.
--- Wait a moment. --- Dante said. He went to the house and came back with a small cigarette in his hand. --- Get that bottle. --- He handed the bottle to Genu. --- When it's midnight next Saturday, you go into your room and put that bottle next to your goblin. Leave my bottle uncovered. On that day you cannot order. Tell your goblin the following words: Suverenata, predavnicka mudrost ti zapoveda da sega pobaras taen angel koj prisustvuvase Ser Dante. Then put your goblin under your bed. When you feel a cold wind through your body, know that it is already present in the room. Take a pin; stick your left pinky finger and drop two drops of blood inside my bottle saying these exact words: Silen angel in temninata. I saw already gave the ovaa suitcase za da ja izrazam mojata posvetenost. When you see that a subtle black smoke has entered the bottle you slap it immediately before it runs away. Ready! He's already in jail. It's just you bring it to me and you'll know everything I know.
Genu returned home pensively in everything he had discussed with Mr. Dante. He wondered whether or not he should trust Dante, since he seemed resentful of Genu because he had taken over the market. He thought he might even take revenge when he had a goblin under his command. After reflecting a little, Genu decided to believe that Mr. Dante would have how to improve his life without harming him by taking help from the goblin.
Saturday arrived and Genu did everything as directed and captured the goblin.
The next day, with the order in hand, Genu was happy to meet Mr. Dante. They went to talk underneath the hose as before. Dante took the bottle with a big smile of happiness.
--- Now, as agreed, tell me all you know about the goblins.
Dante rubbed his forehead slowly as he always did. I wanted to know where to start. Then he went to the trunk of the hose where he placed his right hand and began:
--- I put the goblin in the sun and I told him that if he did not give me what I wanted without sucking my vitality I would leave him there forever! It was working well because they cannot stay in the light unless they become vulnerable. They do not die, but they can do no evil.
--- But that sounds pretty good. And what went wrong?
--- I put it on the chimney of the barbecue but my kids were playing and the ball hit the bottle in one of the kicks. When the bottle fell and broke the goblin ran away. This happened in the afternoon, but the worst happened at night: I went to play cards and lost everything to you at a gambling table.
--- He got his revenge!
--- Clear! He hated me. On the same day he gave the change.
--- What will the Lord do now that he has the urchin in his power inside the bottle?
--- I will take revenge on him very slowly... for him to pay for everything he has done to me and is doing. --- Dante said with fists of hatred.
--- Will you put him in the sun again?
--- Yes! Only this time without giving chance to the bottle being broken to let it free, I'll put it inside an iron cage. Thus, nothing that touched the cage would reach the bottle. And the cage will also be fixed to the ground so that it does not risk falling to the ground and the bottle will break with the fall.
--- But there are more secrets I want to know about them.
--- You need to find out his name. If he can do that, he will never be able to stop fulfilling a request from you and he will not be able to suck his vital energy any more. But figuring that out is no easy task.
--- Do you have any clues to get there?
--- Many years ago I gave shelter and food to a wanderer monk who knocked on my door. I do not even know if he was a monk because he did not quite understand what I was saying. I only call him a monk because he had a monk complexion. He did not say his name. It was very strange the situation: to stay in my house a total stranger who knocked at my door without even knowing his name, but I felt a force impelling me to do that. He seemed to be very trustworthy. He was a very strange man and barely spoke. He was very tall and thin, with red hair and light brown eyes. He had the strange accent I had never heard before. He gave me a very old little book. It was cloaked in human corpse skin. It had few pages and very yellow ones, so old they were. It was form it that I learned many informations about the goblins. The book said that anyone who knew the sacred command to give orders to the goblin would have everything without prejudice, but did not teach how to discover it. The monk said that he knew and that he would tell me at the right time. I insisted, but he said that just in time he would tell me. He stayed seven days at my house and dawned dead on the eighth day. When I saw that he was dead I took off his clothes to see if he had any wounds or bug bites. There was no sign. Just a strange thing I noticed: there were two words tattooed on his penis. It was in an unknown language because I did not find a translation for them in a dictionary of no known language. His death cause was totally unknown. That's what the doctors said that while he slept all the organs stopped. I dream about him often. In one dream he would tell me to tear the back cover off the end of the book. I decided to do this and found a message saying, "Only the sacred decree, that the most important thing is done, in a discreet part, you will know my grace!" That's how I discovered his name.
--- That story is curious. Do you think it has to do with the goblin? Besides, what else is there that you did not know?
--- Yes, I believe you have. After all, the guy shows up at my house and says he knows how to figure out the goblin's name. Then I dream of him telling me to rip the back cover... I do not know. This does not seem to be just coincidence. I just did not understand why he ended up dying before he told me this secret.
--- Do you know where Mrs. Otília's goblin has gone?
--- The goblin of Mrs. Otília she gave to her youngest daughter, Iara. She tried to use it to get the man she loved but ended up very badly.
--- Got it. Well, I just want to ask for more information... --- Said Genu already willing to end the conversation.
--- It is what it is! I do not know anything else about the goblins.
--- The words that were tattooed on the redhead's cock, his name.
--- But why do you want to know that? It has no use for you! --- Dante replied.
--- Yes I know. But I'd like to know. You said you would tell me everything you know if I brought your little urchin back.
Dante thought for a moment. There was no link between the information requested and Genu's goal.
--- It's all right! I say.
Genu quickly removed a notebook from his pocket and a pen. He wrote down the words and put them away.
--- I wish you good luck! --- He said to Dante.
--- Thank you! --- Dante replied with more sympathy with Genu.
Genu shook his hand and left.
In possession of the redhead's name, he went to search the internet for what he would find about the translation. Nothing was found. It was then that he decided to go to the lettering department of the federal university to ask a specialist. The front desk was not very friendly and did not help. He left desolate. He decided to go to the tailor shop and talk to her father.
--- Father. What would you do if you had to find out something and do not know where to look?
--- I would first discover how to find out where to look.
--- Great help! --- He exclaimed frustrated.
At that moment, customers arrived. His father could not pay any attention to him.
--- Get me a box of provisions that's in the basement. It's a little yellow box. --- Said Genu's father.
Genu switched on the light and went downstairs. He started to look at the shelves to see the box. He opened a look similar to his father's description but it was not a box of provisions. It contained small objects such as ancient coins, foreign keyrings, strange pens, small glasses of peculiar shapes, and... A little bottle of urchin! “Mr. Elisio! Even you?!” thought Genu very surprised, that's why he got so rich!
Genu went home thoughtful. He was determined not to give up. He searched the internet for the names and pictures of the likely teachers who could translate for him those words.
The next day, he decided to stay at the university door waiting for the teachers to leave.
After spending the whole afternoon watching, he recognized and surrounded a philologist and showed him the words. The guy did not know exactly what it was but he knew he could translate it later.
--- Where did you see that? --- Asked the teacher.
--- I read in a diary of a man who already died. --- Genu disguised.
--- Send those words to me, for my phone. I'm going to check my books at home because I'm sure there's the meaning. --- Said the doctor.
Genu wrote down the man's phone number and sent a message with the words.
He spent the rest of the evening very eager to get the answer. He thought of sending a message to the teacher asking for the translation. Then he changed his mind and thought it best not to press because it was a favor. When it was past twenty-three, the long awaited message arrived with the translation saying, "Creator commands!" Genu was stunned. But he needed to know how to pronounce them correctly. He sent a voice message to the teacher: "Please tell me how to pronounce those words!" The teacher sent an audio with the correct pronunciation.
After practicing quite the correct pronunciation of the words, he went to speak to the goblin. He locked the bedroom door, held the bottle tightly with both hands, and said the trained words followed by the following phrase: "Tell me what your name is!" He repeated the words. The bottle began to turn red and hot. He needed to get it to bed. He said the words again in orderly tone and then asked the urchin's name. The bottle pulsed in red and heat. It was then that Genu's mind clearly came up with the name of the goblin. Genu let out a cry of joy!
After asking to recover his youth, Genu asked that the mayor pass the deed of the house to his name and that he be elected the next mayor of the city. He begged Iara to take from her heart the man she loved so much. So he would have the way clear. No, he did not ask the goblin to make her fall in love with him. He wanted to conquer it by his own efforts.
A few days later, Genu went to visit Dante who told him what had happened:
--- I made a cage to expose the goblin to the sun. The bottle had been in the sun for almost an hour, then suddenly the time closed and a strong storm began. A bolt of lightning broke the cage in half causing the bottle to roll if it broke when it hit a stone. I was so damn devilish in the days that followed. It was all the goblin's work: he had manipulated time and lightning so that the cage would be broken just as he had previously done with the ball he had hit in the bottle. I thought ingenuously that the goblins had no power when under sunshine.
A few days later, Genu passed the command he had discovered, and handed him his little goat back in the bottle.
A year later, Genu was marrying Iara. The most beautiful woman he had ever seen!
